The lawyers of Boling Rice LLC are well-aware of just how expensive college can be. Paying for an education can put an enormous financial strain on families, and students who choose to finance their educations by taking out student loans often start their careers with a significant amount of debt already hanging over their heads.

To help make things a little easier, Boling Rice LLC is proud to sponsor an annual $500 college scholarship essay contest. Details about the contest and how to apply follow in the information below.

Eligibility Criteria: 

In order to participate, applicants must be currently enrolled in or planning to attend an accredited United States college or university during the 2017-2018 academic year. People who wish to participate should send their essay as an attachment in an email to bolingricecummingscholarship@gmail.com by August 31, 2017. In the body of the email, applicants should include the following information:

  • Your name, address, and phone number
  • If you are under 18, contact information for your parents
  • The name of the school you are planning on attending and your course of study
  • The best way to reach you

Once the application period has ended, our staff will review the essays and choose a winner. The winner will be chosen considering the following factors:

  • Originality
  • Responsiveness to the question asked
  • The quality of the writing
  • The substantive content of the response

To participate in the contest, applicants should write a 500-word essay answering the following question:

Sports are an important part of life for many young people, with more than 7.8 million students participating in high school sports during the 2015-2016 school year. Unfortunately, a substantial number of student athletes are hurt each year while playing school sponsored sports. Under what circumstances schools be held liable for sports-related injuries? Why?
